Accepted Format
The Registry accepts a single standardised format for mercantile notices:
| Property | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Dimensions | 520 × 780 pixels (portrait orientation) |
| Aspect ratio | 2:3 |
| File types | JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg), PNG (.png), WebP (.webp) |
| Maximum file size | 500 KB |
| Colour space | sRGB |
| Minimum resolution | 72 dpi (screen resolution) |
Materials submitted in other dimensions, formats or orientations will not be accepted for circulation and will be returned with a request for amendment.
Content Requirements
All visual materials must:
- Be legible at the published display size
- Contain text in English, French, or Syldavian (other languages require prior approval)
- Include the advertiser's name or brand mark
- Not contain animation, transparency layers, or embedded scripts
- Not imitate system interface elements, dialogue boxes, or error messages
- Not include blinking, strobing, or excessively bright elements
Destination Address
Each mercantile notice may include a destination address (URL) to which visitors will be directed upon interaction. Destination addresses must:
- Point to a functioning, publicly accessible webpage
- Not redirect through third-party tracking services
- Not initiate automatic file downloads
- Be consistent with the content of the visual material
Notices without a destination address will be displayed as static visual materials with no interactive function.
Visual materials should be submitted through the Registry's placement request form. Materials sent by other means (email, physical media, carrier pigeon) may experience delays in processing.
Upon receipt, all materials undergo both technical verification (format, dimensions, file size) and editorial examination (content, language, compliance with editorial rules) before approval for circulation.
